Maple Pepper Bacon Flatbread Pizza - A Delectable Meal in Under 1 Hour

"You Had Me At Bacon" certainly applies when it comes to this Maple Pepper Bacon Flatbread Pizza recipe. What could be better than pairing Maple + Pepper + Bacon so that it turns into a candied bacon?! OK - you couldn't think of anything, could you? Now, combine that candied bacon deliciousness with some Campari tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and some fresh basil, and you have a winner of a dinner! The best way we know how to describe it is that it tastes like a gourmet BLT sandwich, but in the form of a pizza.

The Anchorman and I actually love eating at Granite City, and this item is on the menu. We love it so much that we order it every time we go there. About a month ago, while eating Maple Pepper Bacon Flatbread at the restaurant, Eric (The Anchorman) challenged me to experiment and figure out how to make it. So, challenge accepted. With just a couple of attempts, he says I nailed it.

A really important ingredient in this recipe is the crust. We like thin crust pizza so that you can truly taste the toppings, and not pay the high carb penalty of thick crust pizza. I have experimented with various thin pizza crust brands, and the one listed above is the closest to tasting like the Maple Pepper Bacon Flatbread at Granite City. Be sure to note that it says "ultra-thin." If you are unable to find this type of crust at your grocer, you can actually buy it on Amazon. I have linked it for you here.

We hope you will give it a try! If you do, please let us know if you love it as much as we do! Also, I would love to know if you have ever tried this pizza menu item at Granite City.

This appetizer is the ONLY one I order, other than maybe onion rings, from ANY restaurant. It is THAT good! The only problem I have experienced with my last two orders is I am no longer getting any maple flavor from the bacon. Don’t know what is going on. However, it
is still fantastic, and I will continue to order it! You’ve got to try it.
