Apple Crisp With Caramel Sauce Recipe Is Irresistibly Scrumptious


Is there any better way to welcome Fall than with a delicious warm bowl of apple crisp?  We can't think of any dessert that screams Fall more than that.  What makes a bowl of apple crisp even better?  We are glad you asked!  Drizzle a warm caramel sauce over the top, but not just any caramel sauce.  It has to be this rich homemade version.  

We first tried this Apple Crisp with Caramel Sauce when our friend Donna Quarles brought it to a meeting we attended.  Of course we had to get the recipe to share this Fall treat with our family.  Great news . . . they agree that this version of apple crisp is irresistibly scrumptious.

While this recipe requires 11 ingredients, most of them are items you would typically have on hand.  For us, the two main ingredients we most likely would have to purchase for this dish are whipping cream and apples.  As long as we have those, we are in business for stirring up a batch of this apple crisp goodness!  
For starters, you make the base layer or apple filling layer of the dessert.  After peeling and slicing the apples you simply stir in the sugar, cinnamon and cloves.  Then add in the lemon juice and give a final stir before placing into the baking dish.  Apple Crisp
Next up is the topping.  You combine the topping ingredients into a large mixing bowl and use your fingers to crumble into a coarse mixture. Spoon the topping onto the apple layer.

Place baking dish in 350 degree oven and bake for 40 minutes.

Remove the baking dish from the oven once it has finished baking and allow to rest for 20 minutes before serving.  At this point, your kitchen will smell so yummy!

Next you will make the delicious homemade caramel sauce.  In a medium saucepan, combine the caramel sauce ingredients and bring to a boil.  Boil for 90 seconds and then remove from the heat.

And now for the final step - plating!  Spoon the apple crisp into serving bowls, top with vanilla ice cream, and drizzle with warm caramel sauce.
