Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is a beautiful tropical destination. We have been there several times and I've shared our must-do things in this post on my blog. Today I want to show some of my favorite fashions I took on this trip and share some coordinated looks perfect for a beach vacation!
Swimwear
Beach Bag| Navy/White Tankini with Skirt | Title Nine Similar Tankini | Title Nine Rash Guard | Title Nine Paddleboard Swim Shorts | Birkenstock Mayari Sandals in Graceful Toffee | Tom's Alpargata Pineapple Shoes | Tory Burch Miller Sandals | O'Neill Flip Flops | Sun Bum Lip Balm and Sunscreen | Earrings from Kristi Pierce Designs | Tom Ford Sunglasses
Taking multiple swimsuits on a vacation trip is beneficial, because sometimes they do not dry completely from one day to the next. I don't know about you, but I don't enjoy putting on a day old wet suit, I also like different suits depending on my activity level for that day. Since I love spending time by the water, I don't think one can have too many swimsuits. My favorite places to find suits are Title Nine and Athleta, because their suits have thicker fabrics to cover the bumps and many of them can be ordered in specific bra sizes. This year, however, I did find a great quality suit at TJ Maxx, as well as the above pictured fun geometric navy/white print racerback tankini with a skirted bottom from Nova Swimsuits. It thought it was a unique addition to my swimwear collection. The navy/turquoise tankini in the center is from Title Nine, but is a couple years old. Because their fabrics are so nice, the colors stay vibrant and it still looks like new. The rash guard shirt and paddle board shorts are so necessary, and here is why! I like to spend hours in the sun, and quite honestly, my dermatologist doesn't like it. Neither does my skin. So, after a couple hours of exposure, especially in a tropical destination, I have to put on the rash guard. The one in this picture is from Title Nine from a few years back as well. While this specific design is not available, they still have a lot of great options to pick from and you can find them most anywhere. The swim paddle board shorts are so nice to wear alone or over a pair of swim bottoms. They have swim bottoms built into them, but sometimes I will slip these on over the top of my swim bottoms to walk around the resort and not feel so exposed. They are super comfortable and a great length. I have the paddle board shorts in navy (blueberry) and turquoise (Tortuga), but they come in 12 different colors.
Niptuck One-Piece Nautical Swimsuit | Sundance Cover-Up (This season's color way is different - mine was from 2020.) | Toms Alpargata Pineapple Shoes | Beach Hat |Earrings TJ Maxx | Tom Ford Sunglasses
The above Niptuck one-piece swimsuit is totally slimming due to the ruched sides, and the bra cups have really nice support. You have the option to cross or not cross the straps in the back. The beautiful shimmery gold accents on top of the navy background is so stunning on this suit that I found at TJ Maxx. If you visit Niptuck's website, you will find a ton of super cute prints to pick from. The swim cover up is from Sundance and is super lightweight and comfortable. The bold fuschia embroidery gives a really fun color pop. I did not provide a link to the gold fringe wedge sandals, because they are no longer available to purchase. I bought them several years ago at Tommy Bahama, and I just thought they were super cute to take along to fancy up a day at the pool or to wear along with one of my dresses for dinner.
Black One-Piece Swimsuit | Black Floral Swim Kimono | Black Armani Exchange Sunglasses | Tory Burch Miller Black Sandal | Earrings TJ Maxx
This black one piece swimsuit is one I have had for a couple of years. It is super slimming, because of the ruching and you know the secret about black, right? Everyone looks slimmer in black. :) The exact black floral swim kimono shown is also a couple years old, but here is a link to a very similar one. The Armani Exchange black sunglasses are just the right size frames on my face, and they have the absolute "must-have" nose pieces that are molded into the plastic so that they do not get caught in my hair when I put them on top of my head.
Dinner Dresses
Title Nine Palm Leaf Sundress | Tory Burch Miller Sandal | Earrings | Morse Code "Blessed Is She" Necklace | Turquoise Live Bright Natural Stone Wrap Bracelet
This fun palm leaf print dress is perfect for wearing after a long day in the sun. It became a quick favorite because you do not have to wear a bra (it is built in!), it does not wrinkle, and it has a great weight to the fabric that makes it drape nicely over the curves of the body. Pairing this with my flat black sandals makes for a very comfortable evening. I took along a simple black track jacket to throw on once the sun went down. You can dress this up with some fun accessories, such as the black Tory Burch crossbody bag, and the teal leather earrings and Morse code turquoise necklace that says "blessed is she." Stacking up some bracelets completes all outfits. And, how fitting is it that we just happened to walk by the "Anchor Club Official Store" while we were headed to dinner.
Linen Collared Dress in Rust | Tory Burch Crossbody Bag | Bed Stu Soto Flat Dress Sandal | Tommy Bahama Gold Fringe Sandal (no longer available) | Earrings - Hide Leather |
This rust colored linen collared dress is so comfortable. I mentioned it in my Spring Closet Essentials blog post. Some of you may be thinking that the linen would need ironing, but it doesn't. It is designed to be a casual linen, so there is no need to fuss about the slight wrinkles. This packed nice and compact in my suitcase and it did not need ironed. If you look closely at the image, you will see that the sides of the dress have these rib knit stretchy inset panels - therein lies the secret to the comfort! You can wear it with trendy sneakers or sandals. In Cabo, I wore it with the dark brown Bed Stu sandals shown in the above pic. The earrings I chose are from Hide Leather , and while they do not have a website, you can find their products at The Warehouse in Smithville, Missouri.
TRAVEL TIP: Pack items that don’t wrinkle easily because who wants to spend their time ironing. Pick things that aren't bulky in your suitcase and are easy to throw on!
Evening Outfits
Anchor Sweater | GAP Jean Shorts | Tory Burch Crossbody Purse | Macrame Earrings - Kristi Pierce Designs | Bracelet | Birkenstocks
Do I even need to tell you how much I love this sweater? I found this Nautica anchor sweater at Costco a couple of years ago, but great news .... you can still get it .... on Amazon. Isn't Amazon the greatest? They literally bring so much convenience and style to my life. OK, back to the sweater. :) When the sun goes down and you are going to be by the water, it can get chilly. On our last night in Cabo, we went to our favorite restaurant, The Office, and this sweater was my outfit of choice. I paired it with jean shorts and my Birks. My handsome grandson, Colt, was willing to pose with me. Isn't he adorable in his tropical lemon shirt? He is my coconut shrimp loving soul mate and agrees with me that The Office is the best restaurant in Cabo San Lucas.
TJ Maxx Orange/Turquoise Sheer Blouse | Turquoise NikiBiki Tank | O'Neill Cody White Shorts | Tory Burch Crossbody Bag | Tommy Bahama Cork Wedge Sandals (no longer available)| Tom Ford Sunglasses | Earrings - Krisi Pierce Designs | Morse Code "Blessed Is She" Necklace | Turquoise Bead Stretch Bracelets (no longer available)
I found this orange/turquoise sheer blouse (Rose + Olive brand) at TJ Maxx, and it is so flattering on. I have searched high and low to try and find a link for you, but apologize I could not find it. I will continue the search and update with a link if I find it. I wore it over a NikiBiki tank, and if you don't have one of these, they are amazing at smoothing out the bumps and rolls. Anybody else out there know what I am talking about? #pandemicpounds! The bright colors of the blouse popped off of these super cute O'Neill white shorts with the trendy raw hem. They have a little distressing to them, but not too much. I found these white shorts at Dick's Sporting Goods. Since we were walking to dinner, you can see that I opted for the comfortable Tory Burch flat sandals over the heels.
For the most part, Cabo San Lucas is pretty informal and casual wear is appropriate to wear to nearly all restaurants. You don't need to get all dressed up for dinner, but we like to get cleaned up after a long day of sand and sunscreen. And, it makes for better memory pictures when you kick the style up a notch. I hope you find these outfit ideas helpful as you plan for your next beach vacation. And, I truly hope you get to take a beach vacation soon!
