If you are planning a summer #backyardparty, having a lot of fun activities planned will leave your guests raving and take your party rating all the way up to 5 stars! We love yard games and have several that we enjoy playing with the adults and kids in our family. Check out this list of some of our favorites!

1. Tiki Toss- Swinging Ring & Hook Game

Backyard Games- The Anchored Style

This game is a classic old game reinvented to bring a beach vibe with the surfboard. Mount and play in less than 5 minutes with this easy-to-set-up family-friendly game. This one is easy to play while cooking for that summer bbq party too! (Currently $29.94)

2. Flamingo Ringo Ring-Toss Game

Backyard Games- The Anchored Style

This adorable ring-toss game comes with 3

metal flamingos and rings that are tossed to gain points. This is a game that is suitable for nearly all ages. Give ring-toss a fun summer twist by aiming at the fun summer flamingos ($12.99)!

I'm daydreaming of the ultimate little girl's backyard summer birthday party with all things fun flamingo-themed! How fun would this game be? It's rose gold too which is a perfect fit for this theme!

3. Four-In-A-Row Game for Outdoors

This mega 4-in-a-row (Connect-4 inspired) outdoor game is currently on SALE from Anthropologie, and seriously, could it be any cuter? The color combo provides a great summer vibe. It comes with a bag to hold all of the pucks and is a simple game to play while socializing. We have a similar set and everyone from toddlers to adults plays with it. (Currently $64, regularly $128)

4. Surfboard Cornhole Outdoor Game

Backyard Games- The Anchored Style

This popular game has been the tournament game of the last decade. We ran across this cornhole game with a surfboard twist and loved how it brings a hint of the beach to your backyard. We absolutely love this game because it allows you to play with partners and you can set up a bracket to play like a tournament. (Currently $39.99). Also, check out this cornhole scorekeeper and drink holder from Dick's Sporting Goods -- what a great addition for any summer party.

5. Left-Right-Center, Giant Outdoor Set

Have you ever played Left-Right-Center -- the dice game? This fun set is that dice game in giant form, perfect for a backyard game. ($38.95 with a $10 off coupon)

6. Backyard Baseball

Our ultimate go-to game when we have time to spare is a good game of backyard baseball. This is another game where you can get the whole family involved. On our lakefront lawn, we invite the neighbors over to get in the game! You have to have the bases and complete game set-up for the game to be official. The days of using landmarks are gone, it's a competitive game these days. ($29.99)

7. Nautical-themed Tic-Tac-Toe Game

Backyard Games- The Anchored Style

How adorable is the big tic tac toe set that would be so fun sitting on an end table or in the middle of an outdoor coffee table? ($32.99)

8. Farkle at the Beach Dice Game

Backyard Games- The Anchored Style

Have a bunch of people sitting around a picnic table? Leave them this beach-inspired Farkle dice game to play. It's fun, easy, and the instructions are right on the cup. ($8.98)

9. Jumbo Dominoes

Backyard Games- The Anchored Style

This traditional indoor game goes outdoor in a jumbo version. Use a sidewalk, patio, or another flat surface to build a track of these jumbo dominoes before knocking them all down for the ultimate "domino effect" currently ($16.99)!

10. Giant Jenga, Chiefs or other teams

We got this giant Jenga block set for our "Anchormen" for Father's Day one year. We love having this game for gatherings. It's a super fun and engaging activity. As Kansas Citians, we have this Chiefs set (you can get other teams too!), but if you don't want the NFL version ($149.99), you can always get the standard Jenga set too ($99.95)!

11. Outdoor Jumbo YardZee Set (Like Yard Yahtzee)

This awesome wood dice set measures 3.5" each and comes with a scoreboard, easy to carry bag and the rules on how to play. According to Hasbro (current owner of the original name, Yahtzee), the game was invented in the 1940s by a Canadian couple who called it the 'Yacht Game' because they enjoyed playing it on their yacht with friends. What a fun history to such a classic game that's still played with friends everywhere today. The newest edition of the game is this giant set for outdoor play and would be perfect for your backyard bash!

12. Outdoor Movie Watch Party

Use a projector ($79.99) to show a movie on your garage door and gather around the driveway for a watch party. We have one similar to the one here (ours is now unavailable) and it has great clarity! You can buy a pop-up screen like this one, but they are costly, and using the garage door when closed or the side of the house typically works just fine. Purchase some of these awesome waterproof picnic blankets to spread out and get comfy. Grab the pillows, bean bags, and comfy chairs, and gather around!

There are some great movies for a watch party. Check out some of our favorites below:

  • Luca- Family-friendly, cutest new Disney movie! If you haven't seen it, you MUST!
  • Soul Surfer- The true story of professional surfer, Bethany Hamilton, that lost her arm when attacked by a shark. Her inspiring story is family-friendly and shows her determination to become a champion again, despite the challenges she had to overcome.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean- More suitable for adults, this is the classic Johnny Depp pirate movie packed full of action and comedy.

Whether you're throwing the ultimate summer birthday party or planning a fun summer barbeque bash, some fun summer party ideas are a must! Getting together is something we are all craving after a year of pandemic isolation. Let's get some outdoor parties planned and get to creating new memories with a little friendly competition. On your marks, get set, GO! Or better yet, "Play Ball!"
